Roscommon County Enterprise Board Ltd.
The
Roscommon County Enterprise Board was established in 1993 to develop
and support micro enterprise and to stimulate economic activity
at local level. The Board is committed to the economic development
of the county and since its establishment has provided an integrated
service where business ideas have been transformed into commercial
reality with the assistance and guidance of the Board.
Roscommon County Enterprise Board Ltd. is governed
by a board of directors, with expertise and experience derived from
Business, Community, Public Representative and State Agency backgrounds.
The Board is supported by an Evaluation Committee, which assesses
the potential commercial viability of projects.
Roscommon County Enterprise Board Ltd has invested
in direct financial support and in management development. The success
of the Board may be measured by its investment in the local economy
and by the creation and sustaining of 707 full time jobs and 219
part time jobs.
The Dublin Business Innovation Centre (Dublin BIC)
The
Dublin BIC was established in 1987 with support from the EU and
local private, public and higher education sectors to assist the
creation and development of enterprise.
In September 1992, the Dublin BIC was appointed
a fully-fledged EC-BIC by the European Commission and was licensed
to use the EC-BIC logo in recognition of its performance and achievements.
The purpose of the Dublin BIC is to increase the
level of entrepreneurial activity and innovation within the region
and improve the survival rates and growth prospects of new and existing
small enterprises. It does this by providing assistance, on a selective
basis, to prospective entrepreneurs, start-up businesses and established
small businesses with potential for growth, exports and employment
creation.
Dublin BIC can assist Entrepreneurs find practical
solutions to problems in a responsive non-bureaucratic way. These
activities complement the assistance and services provided by the
state agencies and the private sector. Over 70% of start-up companies
assisted by Dublin BIC continue to be in business after a five-year
period.
Projects, entrepreneurs and enterprises supported
by Dublin BIC have the potential to become competitive and viable
businesses and to achieve, at least, moderate employment growth
and to export.
Dublin Seed Capital Fund
The
Dublin Seed Capital Fund has been set up specifically to provide
early-stage seed capital to new and developing enterprises in the
Dublin region. It primarily invests in early stage, start-up and
first stage expansion companies based in the Dublin area. The Fund
also serves as a feeder fund to other venture capital funds. It
is an active investor, working with companies at board level.
The Fund has been established by the Dublin Business
Innovation Centre supported by Private Sector companies and by Enterprise
Ireland through the EU Seed Capital Measure of the Operational Programme
for Industrial Development 1994-1999. In December 2001, an additional
€5 million was committed to this Fund, increasing the Fund
launched in May 1997 to €7.5 million. It now operates under
the Seed & Venture Capital Fund Scheme 2001-2006 under the National
Development Programme.
